Taylor Swift won the best Music Video award at the VMA's this past week, but what no one expected was the reaction that followed. She and Byonce were up against each other for the award, and a certain celebrity let the whole world know of his displeasure...
Kanye West is notorious for letting everyone know his opinion about any and everything, but this crossed the line. Taylor is only a teen, and this is her first time winning an MTV award. How was she supposed to react?
Even though he later apologized, it was Byonce herself who saved the evening. During her VMA win, Byonce had Taylor come on stage and give her speech. She also let everyone know that she remembered her first time winning with Destiny's Child, and that it gets easier. She showed real character and saved the evening from total disaster.

Music: Influencing the Masses?
Through the ages, people have created many different types of music, for many different reasons. Different people like different music, and it reflects our personalities, right? I'm not completely convinced.
It has been said by older generations for decades that the music the young are listening to is influencing them. Is this true? I don't think so, to me music is created to reflect something that is already in society. Just because a rapper says they beat a man within an inch in his life in their lyrics, doesn't mean that is why other people do so. The problem was there before the rapper was born, it's in society to begin with. The music just sheds light on the problem. The same is true for country singers. Just because a singer says they were cheated on and left for someone else, doesn't mean that no one would leave their partners without the song.
I am a great example. I listen to rap music and some heavy rock, yet I am an honors student who has never been in trouble with the law, or even the school. I was on every honor role, and always made curfew. How then can it be explained that my music, that I have listened to for years, has negatively affected me?

September 11th
Today is an important day in my Nation's history. This is the day of the Twin Towers' terrorist attacks. This is the day when everyone in America stopped and stared in awe of what they were hearing and seeing on the news. Many lost loved ones, others lost friends. Even those who didn't lose anyone felt the shock and despair that permeated the air.
Many brave men and women went into those burning buildings that day, and I just want to take a moment to honor those who risked and gave up their lives to help the people in the disaster. I also want to mention the brave citizens on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. Those fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and friends saved the country from another devastating blow.
I remember the exact place I was when I heard the news. I was in my sixth grade Enrichment class, in a trailer outside Neosho Middle School. I thought it was a story that my principal was telling, until I heard the wailing. Then it finally clicked, hundreds of people were dying. It was truly devastating.
Where were you?

NFL Kickoff Tonight
Sports are a major past time in America. It doesn't matter if it's baseball, football, soccer, hockey, or golf, people are at the games, listening on the radio, or watching them on TV. It is a way to get friends together, a common hobby.
Tonight the NFL (National Football League) will kick off their season with a game between the Titans and the Stealers. Many devoted fans, whether for either of these teams or not, are excited for the season and will sit and watch the game.
Sports are a great way to bring people together, and it is a way to have fun in these hard economical times. Watch the game tonight with your friends, family, or at your local sports bar...
Just get together and have fun!

I Pledge Allegiance To...
In a recent video shown at a Kentucky school, the children were impressed upon to do certain things; such as, not using plastic bags at the grocery store and helping others. For the first few minutes of the video you hear nice things like that and Eco friendly suggestions, but at around the two minute mark the video goes downhill.
At one point someone pledges to the 'funk of the united funk of funkidelica'. What does that even mean? This video was supposed to be serious, and was advertised as being useful to teaching the youth of America. I don't see how that was done with this video.
Another clip held the promise of pledging to the office of the President, and yet another states their allegiance to Barack Obama... so much for checks and balances.
The worst part of the whole video is the fact that celebrities, these children's role models, were the ones pledging. How were the children supposed to respond? Certainly not objectively with their own opinions. What would you have done at their age? What are we going to do about it now?
I am praying for our country.

The Details
The last part of the wedding that I want to discuss is the details. There are a lot of little things that need to be dealt with, and I just want to insure that you are aware of a few things. The easiest way to do this is to make a list, so here it goes:
1) What material do you want for the table cloths?
2) Do you want candles to line your path?
3) What color do you want the candles?
4) What kind of space are you going to have?
5) Do you want a seating chart?
6) Do you want a flower bearer?
7) What kind of flowers are you going to use?
8) What color are they going to be?
9) How do you want your hair?
10) How do you want everyone else’s hair?
11) Is everyone going to wear the same shoes?
12) What about jewelry?
13) What appetizers do you want?
14) What kind of cake do you want?
15) How many do you want?
16) How many people are you going to have?
17) Where are you having the wedding?
18) Do you want a slide show for the beginning of the wedding?
19) What songs so you want played?
20) THE LIST IS ENDLESS!!!
Or so it seems when you are in the middle of planning. I tried to put a few of the details that are uncommonly thought of in there. Remember there are many more things to worry about, and I just wanted to get you started. This is where I am ending my postings, but I wish you all the best of luck, and congratulations!

The Dress
Ok, time for my favorite part of the wedding… the dress!!! There are many different styles of dresses to fit any bride, and the one belief that I hold firm on for the wedding dress is that you are in love with it! Now I’m not saying that you should take a trip to New York and have a famous designer make your dream dress, but I do think that you should be patient and find something that shows your personality. Personally, I am in love with a dress that has a red pattern on the bust and two inch thick red hems, and though I know that it is very untraditional to have color in your dress, I want it really, really badly! I guess it’s a good thing that there aren’t any wedding bells any where in the near future.

The bottom line is that you should do what you want and not worry about what others think on your wedding day. This is about you, and for once I want you to be a little vain and make sure you look gorgeous. Even though I usually attest this kind of behavior, I can let it slide this once…
