September 11th

Today is an important day in my Nation's history. This is the day of the Twin Towers' terrorist attacks. This is the day when everyone in America stopped and stared in awe of what they were hearing and seeing on the news. Many lost loved ones, others lost friends. Even those who didn't lose anyone felt the shock and despair that permeated the air.

Many brave men and women went into those burning buildings that day, and I just want to take a moment to honor those who risked and gave up their lives to help the people in the disaster. I also want to mention the brave citizens on the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania. Those fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, and friends saved the country from another devastating blow.

I remember the exact place I was when I heard the news. I was in my sixth grade Enrichment class, in a trailer outside Neosho Middle School. I thought it was a story that my principal was telling, until I heard the wailing. Then it finally clicked, hundreds of people were dying. It was truly devastating.

Where were you?
